To call this woman iconic or legendary is just not enough, there are no words to describe how important this woman has been to Hip Hop and the music industry in general for over 20 years. She has been the driving force of many Hip Hop stories being told. From the West Coast vs East Coast beef, all the way to your newest, favorite rappers of today.
Angie Martinez has started her own series on WeTv called Untold Stories of Hip Hop. This is a big deal, Angie has been in the hip hop game since the very beginning, and to share stories with us and have artists tell their stories in 2019, is very generous and thoughtful. A lot of stories have gone unheard, and Angie has felt that it’s her duty to have those conversations, even if they may be uncomfortable.
The first episode aired on Sept. 26, she sat down and talked with Snoop Dogg and Cardi B.
Angie felt that she played a part in the way the relationship with Snoop Dogg and Tupac ended because of the hostile interview that she conducted with Tupac. Tupac was very angry about a lot of things, and because so many things were said, she decided not to air the whole interview. Which caused Tupac to be upset, and caused Snoop Dogg some confusion. Although Tupac isn’t here now, she still wanted to clear some things up since we still have Snoop Dogg to tell his side of the story.
Sitting down with Cardi B, the rapper reveals her stories from being in the “New Age” hip hop and the obstacles she’s had to overcome from being in a male dominated industry. She revealed how she was sexually harassed by a photographer, and she talks about her relationship with Offset.
This series is really something special, because just when you thought that you’ve heard all the stories of Hip Hop, there’s more! We applaud Angie Martinez for being a staple in the game and connecting the dots in Hip Hop.
