Unlike Michael Scott and his “Scott’s Tots” promise, Pharrell Williams actually has the means to fulfill his. The super producer delivered a keynote speech last year that will guarantee “A-list internships” to the 2019 Promise Academy graduating class. This is super important because internships are key to getting “real-world experience” and connections that employers are looking for.
Harlem Children’s Zone CEO, Anne Williams-Isom, said “All 114 graduates have been accepted to college.” She further explains that this opportunity will encourage them to “be leaders for justice and change in the world.”
CNN spoke to Promise Academy graduate, Brionna Pope who was “shocked and relieved” by Pharrell’s promise. As Pope prepares to major in animation at Syracuse, Pharrell’s offer helps her realize that she can set her hopes high and that the sky’s the limit. “I could just get that internship with Pixar, DreamWorks … from any animation company. I will know that I don’t have to settle for less.”
