More checks, well maybe not for all.
Although Fox’s Empire has been renewed for a 6th season this Fall, Variety reported that embattle star Jussie Smollett will not be returning to the show.
In a statement made by the network, 20th Century Fox TV studio said that “at this time there are no plans for the character of Jamal to return to Empire.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, Smollett will still remain under contract and has already been written out of the final two episodes of the previous season; due to the alleged hate crime hoax.

Despite what Fox Entertainment says, fellow cast members Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson are fighting on behalf of Jussie’s return. Both actors sent letters to Fox executives pleading their case to bring Smollett back and into the new season. “Together, as a united front, we stand with Jussie Smollett and ask that our co-star, brother and friend be brought back for our sixth season of Empire,” the letter read. The note went on to call Smollett “honest” and “filled with integrity,” before detailing his many years of activism and charitable work.
