She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph was arrested on Feb. 3 by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement due to his expired visa. He spent 10 day at the Irwin County Detention Center until his release on a $100,000 bond.

Complex states on this topic that “According to the SPLC, only about 17 percent of immigrants in Southeast detainment centers have access to an attorney during removal proceedings. The lack of legal representation leaves individuals vulnerable to family separation and deportation.”
