21 Savage has donated $25,000 to Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). Earlier this year, the watchdog organization assisted the Atlanta rapper during his federal immigration battle this past year.

She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph was arrested on Feb. 3 by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement due to his expired visa. He spent 10 day at the Irwin County Detention Center until his release on a $100,000 bond.

Going through his own experience and the work SPLC has done for him and other immigrants, he helps by giving money to this organization to further proceed in their life changing work. Complex states on this topic that “According to the SPLC, only about 17 percent of immigrants in Southeast detainment centers have access to an attorney during removal proceedings. The lack of legal representation leaves individuals vulnerable to family separation and deportation.”
